Kaş is the unspoilt jewel of Turkey's Turquoise Coast. It is a stunning bohemian harbour town lined with flower-draped streets and boutique pensions. You will find bougainvillea-covered Greek stone houses tumbling down a scenic hillside right to the blue Mediterranean. Kaş completely resists mass tourism. You will not find any high-rise hotels here. There are no loud beach-club megaphones. You simply get authentic local life and world-class diving. It offers a front-row seat to the sunken city of Kekova. This is one of the most remarkable archaeological sites in the entire Mediterranean.

The town sits right on the ancient Lycian site of Antiphellos. Traces of that incredible 2,500-year history are absolutely everywhere. A perfectly preserved Hellenistic Theatre overlooks the sea right from the western edge of town. Lycian rock tombs punctuate the surrounding cliffs. A monumental sarcophagus stands proudly at a main-street intersection. Kaş is also Turkey's premier scuba-diving destination. Crystal clear visibility and abundant reef life attract divers from all over Europe. You can easily reach Kaş via a scenic three-and-a-half-hour coastal drive from Dalaman Airport. Antalya Airport is just a three-hour transfer away. Kaş delivers on every level for travelers seeking an authentic Turkish experience away from heavy crowds.

Two main airports serve Kaş perfectly. Dalaman sits just three and a half hours west. Antalya is three hours east. Both routes take you along the stunning D400 coastal highway. You get spectacular sea views the entire way. Tripventura easily arranges private air-conditioned transfers from either airport. Domestic flights from Istanbul land at both airports multiple times daily. The flight takes just over an hour. You can also catch a local dolmuş from Fethiye. It runs every 45 minutes and takes about two and a half hours.

Book Transfer

The main town of Kaş is entirely walkable. Strolling from the harbour to the Hellenistic Theatre takes just ten minutes. Local dolmuş minibuses and small boat services operate daily if you want to visit Kekova or Patara Beach. Renting a scooter is highly popular for exploring the scenic coastal sections of the Lycian Way. The Kaş harbour also features daily boats straight to the Greek island of Meis. That is just a quick 20-minute crossing for a truly unique day trip.

Transport Options

You will not find mega-resorts in Kaş. Accommodation mostly ranges from restored Greek stone houses in the old town to hillside boutique hotels. These often feature incredible infinity pools completely overlooking the Mediterranean. Staying right in the old town puts you within easy walking distance of the best restaurants and the main harbour. The Çukurbağ Peninsula offers luxury villas perched high above turquoise bays for total seclusion. Tripventura exclusively selects properties featuring genuine character and outstanding sea views.

See Hotels

Kaş features one of the absolute best intimate restaurant scenes in all of Turkey. The harbour-side fish restaurants serve exactly what the boats caught that day. Grilled sea bass and bream are absolute staples. Walk into the old town to find wonderful family-run lokantas serving slow-cooked lamb and Turkish ravioli. You must grab a fresh stuffed flatbread from the bustling Friday market. End your evening on a scenic rooftop bar watching the sun sink right behind Meis island.

Food Guide

Passport holders from the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and most of the EU can easily secure an e-Visa online. Head straight to evisa.gov.tr. It costs approximately $50 USD and gives you a 90-day multiple entry visa. The online processing is completely instant. Just make sure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your entry date. Kaş also offers amazing visa-free day trips to the Greek island of Meis. You simply handle passport control right at the busy harbour.

Visa Info

Pack quality swimwear for the rocky cove entries. Bring sturdy sandals for navigating the cobbled old-town streets. A good rash vest provides excellent UV protection during your diving and snorkelling trips. Smart-casual clothes work perfectly for elegant harbour-side dinners. A waterproof phone case is absolutely essential for all your boat trips and dive excursions. High quality sunscreen and a solid sun hat are completely non-negotiable from June straight through to September.

Avoid common mistakes and travel like a local with these actionable insights.

  • Don't Miss the Kekova Boat Trip ESSENTIAL

The amazing day trip to the sunken city of Kekova is the absolute signature excursion of Kaş. Ancient Lycian ruins lie completely submerged beneath crystal-clear water. Book it on a calm-weather day. You will clearly see underwater walls and ancient stairs right through the glass-bottomed boat. Morning departures always offer the absolute best underwater visibility.

  • Walk to the Theatre at Sunset PHOTO TIP

The incredible Hellenistic Theatre faces directly west straight over the Mediterranean. Plan to arrive a full 30 minutes before sunset. You will capture one of the most photogenic golden-hour moments in all of Turkey. The ancient stone seats perfectly frame the bright turquoise sea under a stunning pink sky.

  • Take the Day Boat to Meis INSIDER

The gorgeous Greek island of Meis is just a quick 20-minute ferry ride straight from the Kaş harbour. You can easily explore the colourful Kastellorizo waterfront.
